The Chattanooga Girls Choir was accepted to participate this summer in the Appalachian Festival of Young Voices in Charleston, West Virginia, an event hosted by the Appalachian Children's Chorus. Participating choirs rehearsed both together and separately for a Festival Concert with orchestra and string band. Various other activities gave the singers a chance to have fun while gaining a greater appreciation for Appalachian music and culture.

May 12 & 19 Manditory rehearsals for tour choir, 4:45-7:00 at First Baptist Church
Mon., May 19 - tour choir Parents Meeting 7:00-7:30 p.m.
Thur., May 22: Leave Chattanooga at 11:00 a.m. by bus from First Baptist Church
    and arrive in Charleston, WV about 7 hours later.
Check into Embassy Suites hotel and eat dinner.
7:00-8:30 p.m. rehearsal with all choirs,
    then "story time" with Karen Vuranch, a professional storyteller.
Fri., May 23: Breakfast at hotel, followed by 9:00 a.m rehearsal with all choirs.
Lunch and free time in nearby Town Center Mall.
Rehearsal with all choirs from 2:00-5:00.
Welcome dinner, followed by Square Dancing Party.
Sat., May 24: Breakfast at hotel, followed by 9:30 a.m rehearsal with all choirs.
Take bus for three hours at Vandalia Gathering, a celebration of
    Appalachian culture held every year in Charleston on Memorial Day weekend.
Relax at hotel, followed by dinner at Town Center Mall.
Rehearsal with all choirs and string band from 6:30-9:30.
Sun., May 25: Leisurely breakfast! Walk to CGC rehearsal at 11:00 a.m. at the Civic Center.
Lunch at mall, then return to Civic Center by 2:45 for final group rehearsals.
Dinner at Civic Center, followed by performance in Appalachian Festival Concert.
Appalachian Farewell Party at hotel with DJ and refreshments.
Mon., May 26: Breakfast at hotel, then board bus to leave Charleston.
Estimated arrival at First Baptist Church in Chattanooga is
    Monday at about 4:30 p.m., if all goes smoothly.
