Written by choir member Meg O'Brien:
This morning we rode a train from Calella to Barcelona. The train track goes right along the beach and beside our hotel. On the way there Mr. Holden taught us how to know where we were and which stop to get off. We walked to the Barcelona Cathedral and toured through the inside. It was beautiful. We walked to La Rambla (we were with our chaperones) to have lunch and shop. Some enjoyed the fine cuisine of McDonald's and Burger King while others tried the native food.
Then we mozied down to the Picasso Museum where we saw some very interesting art work. Our guide Lauren gave us some background information about Picasso before we toured the museum.
After the museum we walked to a park [Park Ciutadella] near our performance venue. There was construction next to the plaza where we were scheduled to perform, so we warmed up and rehearsed with a jackhammer accompaniment. The performance area was at a cultural center [in the former Convent de Sant Agustí] in the city.
The music was wonderful and the Spaniards really liked our singing. The Barcelona choir was excellent, and we really enjoyed their singing as well. After the concert we rode the train back to Calella. Great day in Barcelona!
