Day 3: Magic Kingdom
by Amanda, Emily, and Olivia
Our day started as we left the hotel in order to try our hands at the audition and performing process in the place that is known as the "happiest place on Earth". As we entered the auditorium of the Saratoga Springs Resort, we were all excited to begin the workshop. We absolutely loved our instructors Gloria, Kelly, and Ty. We learned a lot about the very hard but very fun jobs at Disney. We did a sound recording with music from the Lion King, and at the end of the day our recording was turned into a music video. We also did a dance number from High School Musical which was a little daunting for some because in the back of our minds we know the Chattanooga Girls Choir can only do the step, clap, step, clap (ha), but it was still very enjoyable. We learned that apparently if you listen really hard to the opening number of the Lion King, the song sounds like "Pink pajama, pink pajama bottoms". Faster than the speed of sound, "pink pajamas" has become the choir's new theme song.
After we ate a nice lunch at Chick-Fil-A/Wendy's, we headed to the Magic Kingdom for a full day of fun. We jumped on the monorail and the first thing our group did once inside the park take a picture with and get an autograph from Pinocchio. Then we walked with purpose to Space Mountain while some of us had to walk with purpose to catch up with Dee Dee (we want to get her a leash) and got a compliment from a rolling trash can...yes, a trash can. Today was our pink shirt day and the trash can told us we looked nice in them! Anyway, Space Mountain was awesome as always, and then we decided to go on a princess hunt. We found the place where Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen were supposed to be and waited for them for an hour, which was longer than we waited for any of the rides we rode. THAT is dedication! Once we saw Prince Naveen we agreed that it was totally worth the wait and that he is our favorite Prince now. Then we headed to Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain and the Haunted Mansion. After all of that fun we decided to go princess hunting again and found Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Belle. After meeting them, the grand total of princesses who have asked us to sing for them is four. We also saw Mickey and Minnie and their security team nearly threw us out because we were taking so long!
We had to run back to the group meeting point because Cinderella's castle had been barricaded off for the fireworks show and we had to run all the way around it. The show was a Disney memory in the making that captured all of the beauty and song that Disney is known and loved for. For the fifteen minutes of the fireworks show, we were five years old again. It was a truly magic day in the Magic Kingdom, where dreams come true.
An even happier place on Earth than the Magic Kingdom was the barge on the way back to the parking lot. We all linked arms and sang the lollipop guild song. Using Mr. Holden as our brute squad to get everyone out of our way, laughing hysterically because we were so tired and hanging on to our Disney graduation caps, we then made our way back to the bus. We were all tired and happy to get back to the hotel, but we loved this day.
Here are two photo from last night taken with Branden's phone camera:
Ah, what lovely princesses!
