2011 Summer Tour

The 2011 CGC Tour Choir is traveling to Germany, the Czech Republic, and Austria. Come follow along!
Here is a link to the tour company's site for our choir: www.music-contact.com/chattanooga This special site requires a login. The username and password were emailed to parents, but is also available by contacting the Girls Choir office.
The choir will also be sending us updates and hopefully photos, which we will post here as soon as we get them.
Once a date below is underlined, you may click on the date to see the journal for that day.
Note: Photos are often added a day or two after the day's journal, so check back to see changes!

ITINERARY: (as of 6/10/2011)
| Fri., June 10: | Tour choir concert at noon at Ridgedale Baptist Church. |

| Mon., June 13: | 2:30 pm: Meet at Ridgedale Baptist Church for departure. Travel by bus to Atlanta to catch 9:15 pm flight to London. |
| Tue., June 14: | Land in London and take 1:15pm flight to Berlin, Germany.
NOTE: Times are given in Central European Summer Time, which is 6 hours ahead of Chattanooga time (EDT). 4:00pm (10:00am EDT): Arrive in Berlin and have quick bus tour of city. 6:00pm: Sing in evening service at Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche, followed by a brief concert. 6:45pm: Welcome Dinner at a restaurant near the church. 8:00pm: Travel to Leipzig (about two hours away) and check into youth hostel. |
| Wed., June 15: |
Morning: Tour Leipzig, then perform in front of Bach Monument. Lunch on own in chaperoned groups.
1:30pm: Travel by bus to Halle. Tour Handel House and perform in front of Handel Statue. 6:00pm: Return to Leipzig for dinner at youth hostel. |
| Thu., June 16: |
8:00am: Check out of Leipzig youth hostel and take motor coach to Dresden.
10:00am: Perform a brief concert at the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), then take guided tour of Dresden. 12:30pm: Lunch and shop in chaperoned groups. 2:30pm: Perform at the Kathedrale (the Catholic Court Cathedral). 3:00pm: Continue on to Prague, Czech Republic. Arrive by 6:30pm and check in to hotel. 7:15pm: Walk to dinner at restaurant Deminka. Free time after dinner. |
| Fri., June 17: |
9:00am: Take motor coach to the Skrivanek Artistic Grade School to perform for the students and faculty.
11:00am: Take motor coach to Old Town for a walking tour around Old Town Square and lunch in groups. 2:00pm: Tour Prague Castle, including St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, and St. George’s Basilica. 6:00pm: Return to hotel, then walk to dinner at restaurant Matylda. Free time after dinner. |

9:00am: Check out of hotel in Prague and take motor coach to Vienna, Austria.
2:00pm: Check into hotel, then take walking orientation tour of Vienna's city center. 7:00pm: Dinner at Restaurant Bermudabräu, then walk back to hotel. |
| Sun., June 19: |
7:45am: Take motor coach to Dr. Karl Lueger Kirche to perform at the 9:00am service.
11:00am: Go on panoramic tour of Vienna, then enjoy lunch and shopping in chaperone groups. 2:00pm: Take motor coach to Schönbrunn Palace and perform a concert on the grand staircase. 3:45pm: Use audio guides for self-guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace, then explore the park. 5:45pm: Take motor coach to for Gumpoldskirchen, an 800-year-old wine village, for traditional Austrian dinner and music. 9:00pm: Return by motor coach to hotel. |
| Mon., June 20: |
9:00am: Take motor coach to the First Vienna Bilingual Middle School to perform for the students and faculty.
11:30am: Take motor coach to city center for lunch and shopping/exploring in chaperone groups. 7:00pm: Walk to dinner at restaurant Café Schottenring. |
| Tue., June 21: |
9:30am: Check out of hotel in Vienna and leave for Salzburg, enjoying the scenic drive along the Danube.
Stop along the way in the picturesque town of Dürnstein (Austria). 11:15am Stop at the Melk Abbey and take a guided tour. Perform a short concert in the Abbey Church. 2:00pm: Continue on to Salzburg, Austria and check in to your hotel. 7:00pm: Dinner at the restaurant Sternbräu, then return to the hotel for the evening. Skit night! |
| Wed., June 22: |
9:00am: Take a guided city tour of Salzburg, including a visit to the Hohensalzburg Fortress.
12:30pm: Perform an a cappella concert at Salzburg Cathedral, then have lunch in chaperone groups. 3:00pm: Go to nearby Salt Mine for a guided tour of the mine, then return to the hotel. 7:15pm: Festive Farewell Dinner at the Stiftskeller Restaurant, with classical musicians in period costumes. |
| Thu., June 23: |
8:30 am: Check out of hotel and travel to Munich’s International Airport.
12:55pm: Fly to London, then transfer to British Airways (BA) Flight #227 bound for Atlanta, GA. 7:05pm: Arrive in Atlanta, collect luggage, go through U.S. Customs, and board bus to Chattanooga. TIME TBA: Welcome home! 2011 Tour Choir arrives at Ridgedale Baptist Church. |
